LOT 714 DENIM JACKET IN RAW INDIGO
-
Details
Vintage jackets that use selvedge denim require a back seam when graded to a larger size, due to the limited fabric width. On vintage denim jackets, the seam changes location with different years and models, and so for this design, T.T. referred to a vintage piece modestly incorporating side seams. It suggests a relaxed fit that can accommodate layers or thick innerwear. The jacket features custom-engraved iron buttons and buckles, adopting a new copper material that is also used on the LOT. 701 Denim Jacket and LOT.702 Denim Trousers. The signature leather patch is mud-dyed in Amami Oshima Island.
The warp yarn, dyed with a blend of indigo and sulfur dyes, carries a definitive green-cast, weathered look. The rope dyeing technique is used to leave the white core. The weft is custom-made nep yarn dyed in a natural yellow color to convey the passage of time. By using these two yarns, Taiga Takahashi perfected his unique indigo blue which is deep and rich. The fabric is finished with sanforized process added to prevent shrinkage. The fabric is a selvage denim with a white edge, which is featured in various details like the reverse side of the belt. In the 1940s, there was a change in the details of denim jackets, such as rugged iron buttons replaced with more decorative snap buttons. We studied the Art Déco buttons and rivets commonly used at that time and replicated them with our original color. The signature leather patch is mud-dyed in Amami Oshima Island.
T.T is a unisex brand based in New York and Kyoto. Taiga Takahashi, the founder and designer, underwent an education that merged Japanese culture with Western thought. The brand concept is "resurrecting relics of the past to unearth artifacts of the future". Believing that the true value of craftsmanship already exists in history, the fabrics, sewing, and details of time-survived garments are researched from an archaeological perspective, reinterpreted in a new way and bring them back to life in the modern age. T.T. is a creative project that creates timeless garments that are inspired by the founder's collection of vintage apparel and created by Japanese artisans.
